Waikareao Estuary
A unique walkway that meanders through tidal mangroves.
All ages and abilities can enjoy the flat winding boardwalks.

A
unique wilderness close to the city. Boardwalks and tracks wind around the shores
and mangrove tidal zones. All ages and abilities can enjoy the flat walk and
superb scenery. No powerboating is permitted in the estuary. Cyclists are welcome
on the boardwalk but must give way to pedestrians. There are many access and
exit points to this walkway with Maxwells
Road and Coach
Drive providing areas to park your car.
The
complete walkway is approximately 9.5km in length.
Faulkner Park
One
of the city's earliest families lived here. Access is off Waihi Road. Planted with native and
exotic trees it runs between Robins
Road and an industrial subdivision. A loop walk
combines a citrus grove, herb and alpine gardens and open grass areas.
