Bethlehem Wetlands

The Bethlehem wetland is a restoration project that has created a natural environment for native animals and plant life.

WALKING TIME

30 minutes return to starting point at Beaumaris Boulevard playground

Accessed from Beaumaris Boulevard this development has been based around preserving existing natural features and land contours.

There is a children's playground area on Beaumaris Boulevard. To get to the wetland reserve, continue down Beaumaris Boulevard.

The wetland can also be accessed from several other points including Waihi Road and Orange Lane. Vehicle noise has been reduced by intensive plantings of large trees and shrubs that have blocked out any view of the road.

Large ponds and water areas have been enhanced with the planting of native flax around their borders.

Pathways have been formed through existing ponga areas. Small bridges have been constructed over water areas at various points and there is also a viewing platform. Boardwalks have been created allowing walkers access to most areas within this reserve.
