Tauranga City works this week

18 May, 2009

Bellevue Road Rehabilitation: Due to recent bad weather, work has been delayed and should be completed later this week. Expect delays. Diversions for traffic coming from Waihi Road into Brookfield are in place. The work being done is routine maintenance and reconstruction of Bellevue Road between Waihi and Sutherland Roads.

Totara Street Rehabilitation: Routine maintenance and reconstruction work on a section of Totara Street around the intersection with Maui Street has started. Most of the work will be done at night to minimise disruption to traffic. Alternative routes may be advised during the day. Expect delays. Work is expected to take about two weeks, although this is dependant on weather.

Takitimu Drive Reconstruction: Routine maintenance and reconstruction work on a section of Takitimu Drive between the Elizabeth Street Roundabout and the Waihi Road overbridge is expected to start in early June. The work is likely to take about a month to complete, depending on weather. Lane changes will be in place so that traffic can continue to use the road while the work is being done. Delays are likely, particularly at peak times.

Fraser Street: There has been a delay in the installation of new stormwater culverts under Fraser Street due to greater than expected settlement of some of the culverts. This problem is currently being fixed. Work is expected to be completed, and Fraser Street fully reopened to traffic, by the end of May.

Taniwha Place: Construction of a right turn bay on State Highway 2 (on the Tauranga side of the Wairoa Bridge) to make it safer for traffic turning into Taniwha Place has started. Expect delays. Work is likely to take about four weeks.

Clarke Street: Work on installing angle parking along the eastern side of Clarke Street (fronting the hospital car park) will start soon. Minor delays expected.
