City Early Start Toastmasters Breakfast Club
What we do is all about you
It’s all about making our members feel more comfortable in front of an audience large or small.
8 Reasons why joining Toastmasters will vastly improve your life
1. Learn effective communication skills
In this information age you are probably more at ease communicating by email and text than you are face to face. At Toastmasters you will learn the art of oral communication in a group where everyone is also learning.
2. Overcome the terror of public speaking
Speaking to groups large or small may intimidate you. In Toastmasters you learn how to formulate, express and successfully sell your ideas and yourself.
3. Get to give short talks
As you give 1 to 2 minute impromptu speeches on general subjects, you will learn how to formulate ideas while thinking on your feet
4. Be given constructive feedback
Whenever you give a prepared speech, an evaluator will point out your presentation strengths and offer suggestions for improving your next speech.
5. Improve your listening skills
Toastmasters is not only about speaking but listening as well. You will develop your listening skills on different levels and learn how to give evaluations that are encouraging and meaningful.
6. Coached by a mentor
Every new Toastmaster can be assigned a mentor (if they want one). The mentor will act as a sounding board to assist with speech preparation.
7. Practise leadership skills
Leadership is an art. You can’t learn to be a leader in 1 day, it takes practice. Toastmasters will build your leadership skills every time you organise and conduct meetings and motivate others to help you. Toastmasters is a laboratory for leadership where you will learn skills that can only be obtained in a voluntary organisation.
8. Be a welcome part of a supportive environment
You will be part of a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every person has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, fostering your self confidence and your personal growth.
